NFL Week 1: Indy and SD Fall and Down Goes Brady
Week 1 was full of storylines and upsets and I will break it all down for you right now.
Tom Brady last year's MVP has reportedly has torn his ACL and will miss the entire 2008-09 NFL season. The Patriots were one win away from perfection last season and appeared to be the Super Bowl 43 favorite this year. This all may have changed with Brady going down. Matt Cassel is now the man under center in New England and looked very solid against Kansas City leading NE to a 17-10 victory. I still expect NE to win 10-12 games and win the AFC East. I just do not foresee a Super Bowl championship in their future this season.
Two other huge storylines were the Panthers defeating the Chargers in the last few seconds and the Colts falling to the Bears on Sunday Night Football. The Colts and Chargers along with the Patriots were considered three of the top 5 teams in the NFL. As you notice these are all AFC teams and the Bears and Panthers are NFC teams. Are we witne! ssing a shift in power? Kind of in my opinion. The Cowboys, Eagles, and Giants look phenomenal and I believe the AFC and NFC are much more even this season. The Jaguars and Browns two other top notch AFC teams fell yesterday as well. Vince Young will miss 2-4 for Tennessee thus opening another door for weaker AFC teams. The Jets and Bills are two of these teams. I did not even mention the Pittsburgh Steelers who look to be in midseason form after they pounded the Texans.
In the NFC, the Cowboys looked unstoppable yesterday against Cleveland. The defense shut down the Browns talented offense, Romo had all day in the pocket to find wide open targets, and Marion Barber and Felix Jones ran all over the Browns new look defense. It was an absolute pounding despite the score only being 28-10.
Overall a great week 1 and a bunch of surprises. Tonight the Favre-less Packers play the Vikings on Monday Night Football, while Denver and Oakland meet in the second game ! at 10 pm eastern time. Do not miss out because both of these ! games lo ok like great ones.
