The Stormers' Bok Hopefuls

The performance of the Stormers against the Brumbies at Newlands on Saturday has either cemented or placed a number of players in contention for a place in Peter de Villiers' Springbok squad.

The stand-out players for me on Saturday were the midfield pairing of Jean de Villiers and Gcobani Bobo. De Villiers led from the front and put in a man-of-the-match performance and should be the Bok coach's preferred choice at inside centre.

Bobo for me has been solid this season, maybe not as glamorous on attack as his partner, but silky passes and rock-solid defence has been a feature of his resurgence at the ! Stormers this year. His line break which led to his captain's try against the Brumbies might just be enough for him to get a re-call to the Springbok squad.

Luke Watson, Andries Bekker, Peter Grant, Conrad Jantjes and the hooking duo of Schalk Brits and Tiaan Liebenberg won't be far off Peter de Villiers' mind either.
